I'm mainly writing this because I need some music to study with. And I need to expand a particular playlist.
When you've listened to a particular song, there's always an emotion associated with it. That emotion dances with rhythm and produces the musical vibe of a song. Sometimes I've found that there are particular songs I associate with driving or racing naturally, either due to the content of their music videos, the lyrics, or childhood experiences.
For me, I prefer songs that are strong rhythmically and have a marching sense of urgency or songs that are like cruising-through-the-hood-songs. Most of these songs have a energetic step to them, thus they end up on playlists that I drive with all the time.
This also due to the fact that I love:
1) emerging alternative rock 2) 90s alternative rock 3) pre-200os hip hop 4)electro-punk-funk-soul 4) classic, classic rock. (CCR, The Who, Cash, etc.)
I am a hipster.
Here are a few off the top of my head:
Stylo - The Gorillaz
Basically any song off of "Jungle" - Jungle (2014)
The Next Episode - Dr. Dre
Swim Good -
Frank Ocean
Any song from the first Fast and Furious film
Genesis-
Justice
Run Through The Jungle
and
Fortunate Son
- CCR
TRS-80 - Formula 71 (yes, I read that article too, but just can't find it)
Old Crystal Method
Biggie Smalls
Most of the songs of off Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
Mutemath!
Knight Rider theme song. Kill me.
and remember
THERE AIN'T NO SUCH THING AS HALFWAY CROOKS
nFamousCJ - Keeper of Stringbean, Gengars and a Deezul

"Secret Loser" is a good driving song. Hell, anything off of the soundtrack for "The Wraith."
Here's "Secret Loser" in the movie - opening race between a C3 'Vette and a Dodge Daytona.
P.S. To get your tofu drift on, gotta listen to Super Eurobeat. Takumi tested, Bunta approved.

Airbag -Radiohead
Contains the lyrics: In a fast german car/ I'm amazed that I survived/ An airbag saved my live/
It is said to be (not entierely, but this part) referring to a crash-surviving experience that happened to singer and multi-instrumentalist Thom Yorke, transforming him from a car nerd to someone who is deeply sceptical towards motorized means of transport. He once said, he would think of him being killed or injured everytime before he enters his car and turns the key.
So why write this here?
There's a ton of songs which glorificate the driving experience and dangerous driving, but in a good driving playlist, I would at least include this track to keep sight of the dangers of speed and how everything has another side.
Also the guitar and percussion in the intro are just making you speechless the first time you hear them. Easily my favourite intro.
Might also fit because 90s alternative rock, guess you got OK Computer than, anyway.

This song is probably featured in more driving montages than any other, and for good reason. It is easily the best driving song of all time, and if you don't agree... Well, I'm sorry, but you're just wrong.

I like White Walls by Macklemore. And it's not entirely car related, but 1000 horsepower by Godsmack has been one of my recent favorites.

Tornado '87 by The Rural Alberta Advantage. When those drums come in I find my speed intrinsically jumps higher.
